Famous Hacktivist Group LulzSec’s Key Member Arrested By FBI

The FBI has arrested a hacker from Arizona, who they claim to be one of the main members of the infamous hacktivist group called LulzSec.
Cody Kretsinger was arrested in a morning raid on his home in Pheonix, Arizona. He is believed to go by the hacker handle ‘Recursion’.
Cody has been arrested against charges of taking part in a major computer security breach at Sony Pictures Entertainment film studio. This is just one of the high profile attacks LulzSec has carried out this year.
A federal grand jury indictment unsealed on Thursday, charged Cody Kretsinger with charges of obtaining confidential data from Sony’s computer systems using a popular hacking technique called SQL Injection. This data was later posted on LulzSec’s website and this was announced through LulzSec’s Twitter account.
“From a single injection we accessed EVERYTHING. Why do you put such faith in a company that allows itself to become open to these simple attacks?”

These hackers had previously hacked and accessed information over 70 million Playstation Network and Qriocity accounts. This was the largest computer security breach by that time.
If convicted, Kretsinger faces up to a maximum of 15 years in prison.
LulzSec, a hacktivist group also called Lulz Security, is famous for a number of high profile attacks on the likes of Google Inc, Lockheed Martin, the CIA, the NHS, the Sun, SOCA, Sony, PBS and the US Senate. It is also believed to be associated with the hackers collective Anonymous which has announced to take down Facebook on November 5 this year.
Previously, a number of raids have been carried out in search for LulzSec members and a number of people have been arrested having associations with both LulzSec and Anonymous. A tweet by one of the LulzSec founders, Sabu, indicates that the raids have hit the group badly. In one tweet, Sabu said that only two members of the LulzSec ruling council are at freedom now.
