Hiding Folders In Windows XP, Even With ‘View Hidden Files’ Option On
There is a simple way to hide a folder in Windows XP by editing it’s Properties and selecting ‘Hidden’. But the folder is visible when the View Hidden Files option is turned on. In this post, I’ll tell you how to hide your folders even with the option turned on!
It starts with renaming the folder.
When renaming the folder, simply press Alt, keep it pressed, and type 255. This is an “Alt Code” for the character ‘ ‘. Don’t worry if you can’t see the character, it’s supposed to be that way. Duh! (It’s not a ’space’!)
As you can see, the name is now ‘nothingness’.

Now all we have to do is hide the bloody icon. Right click on the folder, select Properties. When the Properties window appears, select the Customize tab.

Then click on Change Icon.
Scroll through the choices and find a blank icon like the ones circled in the pic.
Select it, apply and you have an invisible folder.
TIP: Try to remember where it is located!
