Have a multiple-core processor? Here’s a way to make vista boot faster.

Vista boots slowly. Everyone knows that. But not everyone knows there is an easy way to speed it up if you have a multiple core processor. I’ll show you how in this blog post.

You will need Administrative Access.

First, click on the Start orb, search for ‘run’ in the search box, and then hit enter.

When the following window appears, type in ‘msconfig’ and then hit enter.

Second, you will notice that the following window has appeared. Click on the “Boot” tab and click “Advanced Options”.

Third, tick the “Number of processors” checkbox. Then use the dropdown menu to choose 1 or 2 cores to boot up with. Choose OK, then click Apply in the other window, then OK, and say that you don’t want it to restart your computer.

That’s about it. :)

I do have a fairly new vista on my laptop that I don’t need to boot now thankfully but I fear in near future I may need to just that. So this article is an interesting read for me.
