I recently received Service Pack 2 in the mail this morning, shaking my head at why I don’t use Ubuntu, but nonetheless downloading the 343.9 MB package. I don’t understand why us Windows users have to download enormous files that have a couple of bug fixes. I may as well be downloading an MMORPG or the newest version of Aptana Studio.
I’ve heard there are going to be a lot of changes 8-). I just hope the “endless reboot” doesn’t start again. Looking at the release notes, there’s some juice.
Basically, Microsoft says that the Service Pack will give you support for Bluetooth 2.1., better Wi-Fi performance when starting your computer from sleep mode, native Blu-ray support (for writing to discs), improved performance of Vista’s desktop sidebar gadget (”it frikkin sucks, get Google desktop!”), it will boost power management efficiency by up to 10 percent, (now they’ll energy-star rate operating systems!), it will have support for VIA’s 64-bit CPUs and it fixes 600 something bugs. Burn. Also, PC World says it’s readers experience free disk space magically appearing. Wow.
Anyway, it’s now available everywhere, so go get it!
